One
of the mandates of the Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI)
as embodied in Republic Act 7359 Section 3, is to educate and train
sericulturists to develop sericulture as a rural agro-based industry in
the Philippines.
These
training programs on mulberry production and management, silkworm rearing,
silk reeling, and weaving have been designed in order to effectively
disseminate sericulture technologies and upgrade the skills of farmers,
development agents, and extension workers. Technical

To
develop and enhance participants’ ability to know about the technology
on mulberry production and management, silkworm rearing and farm
management, silkworm biology, silkworm egg production; silk processing;
sericulture organization, extension, and management; and status and
prospects of sericulture in developing countries. Techniques:
The
trainees are exposed to problems and are required to extend technical
assistance in the sericulture community. Course

practicals in silkworm rearing, silkworm egg production, and reeling

Training Course in Late-Age/Grown Silkworm Rearing Date:

To develop and enhance participants’ ability to know about the
technologies involved in late-age/grown silkworm rearing. Techniques:
The trainees will be provided with knowledge and skills in late-age
silkworm rearing. The

participants are exposed to actual cocoon reeling, winding, doubling,
